The Basement On KIndle
I've just published my story The Basement on KIndle. Let's see if it sells. I do think that the Kindle is going to have a major effect on the way that people read and buy books in the future. More on that later!
The Basement is about the hunt for a serial killer in New York, and it has a great twist at the end!

I agree about the Kindle and am dropping major hints for Xmas for either a Kindle or a pair of Uggs but seeing the books you have put on there, the Kindle is winning :)
I think the e-reader war is just starting, so I'd hold off for another year or so. I'm not sold on the Kindle (given that I hate DRM-coded products, and the lack of support for EPUB formats).
I'd be interested in Stephen's thoughts on how this is changing the publishing game as far as writer's are concerned - can you conceive of a world where writers sell their work directly to the consumer, cutting out agents and publisher's in a stroke?
Well I have just oredered the Kindle (so much for waiting for Xmas!) and I know which books I will be downloading first :)
Thanks, Chantal. When you have your Kindle let me know and I'll cut my Kindle books to zero for a week so that you can download them for free....
Hey Rob, yeah Kindle is going to change the way writer's sell their work. I already have four of my own books on Kindle and am planning more. What is interesting is that they outsell the books that my publisher has on Kindle. I think the key is marketing - my publisher hasn't yet worked out how to promote its books on Kindle and the other devices.
Being a kindle user now and a regular visitor to the discussion boards on amazon/etc the main criteria to do with book purchasing now seems to be the price , All the forums light up when a (relatively) cheap book appears and it becomes a hot topic.I think people are happy to pay what they see as a fair price , after decades of expensive new formats cd/dvd - all of which eventually crash in price i feel this time people can have a say and influence whats going on - punk rock for literature?
Cutting out the middle man and having artistic freedom are also issues being debated.
Good times ahead for anybody who brings quality into the equation . : )
YAY, my kindle is here :)
It is charging as I type.
Thanks Stephen, that is so generous of you to do this,
Isn't it sad that I am so excited about this!
Hi Chantal - Okay, I have cut the prices for The Basement, Dreamer's Cat and Once Bitten to the minimum for the next week! Amazon won't let me go below 99 cents, unfortunately!
Hello again - you could do with adding links to your books at the bottom of your posts on the amazon discussions forum.

Just finshed reading 'the basement'. It's a page turner but very disappointed with abrupt ending.
