For instance, I think the Charlie Button character very intriguing and worth a book of her own. So, why not the next installment feature primarily her with Spider as an ancillary player? Thus, you can keep the Shepherd saga going while at the same time developing another facet of his world.

Regards!

JoeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7201035340379387456.post-30810653508261977212009-01-12T05:32:00.000-08:002009-01-12T05:32:00.000-08:00I think you're being a bit unfair, Mr Dobbins. I think Jimmy, at some point, has to either change or pay the price of continuing to hold his attitudes - to do so otherwise simply would not be realistic in today's world. The only reason Gene Hunt got away with being Gene Hunt was because it was set in the '70s, which Spider, Jimmy, Charlotte et al, certainly arent'.

Personally i think they sound like great plotlines - I'd love to see Jimmy's development as a character. In some ways i think it would be more interesting if Jimmy were to actually be approached by these racist groups to do something for them, which he does, cos he can't see anything wrong with it, then realises what a monumental fuckup he's made, and 'fesses up. Charlotte, as well as punishing him, uses it as a way to get into the organisation. But hey, the book is Stephen's to write - I just read avidly!

keth
xxAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7201035340379387456.post-35117042860334539832009-01-11T06:44:00.000-08:002009-01-11T06:44:00.000-08:00Being opposed to unlimited immigration is hardly '...Being opposed to unlimited immigration is hardly 'racist'.

Also, with the hundreds of novels out there with similiarly politically correct plotlines, can't you come up with something a bit more original? Liberal platitudes abound in contemporary fiction, something different would be nice, for a change.Roland Dobbinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06517186494484977438noreply@blogger.com
